Not a Pretty Session

Well i did do a session on Tuesday (it is Thursday today) and it was not a very pretty one. Although i am reasonably new to TKD i could not help but feel that ALL of my kicks were just complete crap. i can not remember a kick that i threw that went anything close to a straight line or had a nice finish. all of my snap kicks were lose and did not feel nice to do, the side thrusting kickes were wobbly and all over the place, and then the instructor got us to do some turning kick (which i learnt once back in July thus i could not remember them) and these were also horrible. some of my other complaints about my kick is the lack of height on my side thrusting kicks, but i am working on me flexibility in my groin. i am also tending to point my grounded foot when i do a snap kick, this is causing me to lose balance and i also think it means my kick are not quite snappy (pun intended). over then next few days i will be trying to iron out these bugs and hopefully get those kicks backs.

Little Bit Late on this Post...

Well it is friday night and i was meant to post on Wed... oh well... i have been really tied down with work etc so i hadnt had the time.

now to the important stuff, i trained on tues but not on thurs (had to work again). on tues the session did not go too badly, could do most of the "moves" etc, was a bit sore after it though. I do seem to be having a problem relaxing my body during attacks, this is causing my punches and kick to be slower than they should be, i am trying for the rest of the week to relax when i do training at home but i still am remaining stiff. other than that i seem to be going okay and am still enjoying it very much.

That is all for now, will update again some time next week (no more days assigned again...)

2nd training

well work finished early last night so i did manage to make it to the training session. this session did not go too bad... the muscles are feeling better after another workout, less sore today (yes i am a day late again) . last night the club was running a come and try night for all the kids in the local area quite a few turned up to have a shot... hopefuly a few join.

in terms of my actual "moves" (cant think of what to actually call them) i did have a few troubles with combinations (ie, iner forearm block followed by... damn cant rem the name of the other part ) but oh well i was hanig trouble with it anyways. i also seem to be locking punches with the fatty part of the underarm instead of the side, am currently trying to get out of the habit.

oh well that is my little speal for a while.. will update again tues/Wed some time

My First Training Session Back

Well I am already a night behind (didnt set up my blog till tonight and i went back to training last night) oh well.....

my first session back wasnt to bad... we were in our usual room out the back of the local primary school(Fulham North, South Australia, Australia) in appx 40 degree celcius heat (i.e. very hot). i haven't forgotten a lot of what i was taught in that earlier month and it was good to catch up with my instructor again (havn't seen him for a while). did a lot of streaches and found that i havnt lost that much flexability in the last few months (could still touch my toes, Yay). today the muscles are very sore though (a lot of them i havnt used for ages) but other than that i am fine... unfortunately i cant train on thursday (tuesday and thurday are the days that training is availabe) as i have to work... damn.

I will try to keep you all posted on what is happening....

My First Post - a short back log

Had this site recomended by a few of the people over at Martialtalk.com

anyways here is the reason for me starting my blog....
in July last year i started a martial art - Tae-Kwon-Do (TKD) with Ree International TKD... well anyways about a month into my training i met with an orthopedic surgeon about a knee niggle that i had had for a few years... he told me that i would need to stop training for a few months as i had torn cartlidge and it was a bad idea to continue.

Well i finally had the surgery in late november and it is now time for me to return to training, as my motivation to actually do something has dropped it thought that it would be a good idea to keep a journal type thing to hopefully keep my motivation up and also share my experiences with anyone who bothers to read this....
